Michelle A. (Sibila) Habermann

Michelle (Shelley) S. Habermann (Sibila) is a 3rd generation, member of Peoples Services, Inc. Shelley is the Special Projects and Chief Strategy Officer, a shareholder, and an officer of Peoples Services, Inc.

Shelley graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, with an emphasis in accounting, in 1977. During her high school and college days, she worked part-time at the company to earn money to help pay for her education. She was a Girl Scout and volunteer candy striper at Massillon City Hospital during her grade and high school days. At OSU, she served as President of her sorority, Alpha Zi Delta.

Upon graduation from OSU, she joined the company as an accountant. She was named Office Manager during her first full year with the company. She was also elected to the Board of Directors and appointed Corporate Secretary; positions she has maintained to date. She later became the Chief Financial Officer, a position she held until marrying Joseph F. Habermann and moving to Cleveland. They lived in Strongsville, Ohio with their two children for 30 years. She was the CFO of her husband’s company while raising her family. When he became terminally ill, the operating company was sold to Peoples Services, Inc. in June 2012.

Shortly after his death, she was asked to move back to Canton to work at the corporate headquarters. She helped establish the Educational Assistance Program (employees) and RJS Scholarship Fund. She sits on several committees established as part of the company’s long-term strategic plan. The committees help with designing and modifying programs, policies, and making management decisions for the Human Resources Department, Transportation, and Innovation, Productivity, and Automation. She administers the annual Employee Engagement surveys, the Employee of the Month program, and the Milestone bonus for employees with 5+ years of service. She also helps manage the 401(k) and ESOP programs, including the annual census for testing and any amendments needed for the plans.

Outside of work, she helps raise her grandson, Joey. She is an avid reader, and loves to garden, cook, and do needlework. She is also a member of the Finance Council at St. Mary’s Church (Divine Mercy Parish) in Massillon, a Board member of Light After Loss, a member of the Central Catholic High School Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto Committee, an associate member of the Mercy Service League, a member of Legatus, and volunteers at St. Mary School.
